An update on stuff…
I was wanting to cut back the personal blogging as it never really lets me say what I want to say. I could be pooring some personal shit out on here, but I hold back. The people that read this blog (well, the people I know that do) come from every aspect of my life (apart from home… dont think my family read this). That means, apart from slagging work colleges and family memebers off on here, I really can’t be too open in case I put my foot in it… or reveal a little bit too much about how I feel toward someone… and then a friendship is ruined.
With all that said… fuck it, heres’ yet another personal blog thats not too personal :)
What have I been upto?
I’ve been in London, getting hot and sweaty with Lucy and Alex… not like that dude. Lucy is moving to my fair town soon for work. Anyways, I offered to help her move (expecting her to say no… everyone asks questions that they are expecting the answer to be dont they?), but she didn’t ! So, I went down to London (its the south… thats the only place that counts) and helped her load up the van she had hired.
I took Alex and myself down Thursday night, which was a pretty uneventful journey, apart from the fact that we saw sherwood forest. How exactly the M1 got away from us I’m just not clear on.
Cut to friday afternoon. We’d packed and it was time to set off. I was driving back up in my car, with some mirrors and stuff we really ought to have packed first, but forgot about; so Alex went with Lucy in the van. Just as I get to Guilford my car goes a bit psycho. Turns out, having waited an hour for breakdown that my ‘electronic throttle linkage’ is fubar. Althought the guy said it was okay to drive, there was no guarentee it wouldn’t do it again so I opted to have it towed…. to Middlesbrough :) Well, that was eventful, and a great start to a what turned into about a 11 hour journey hour journey
The rest of the weekend went well, apart from breaking down once again on the way to Brad’s birthday party in town. SORRY BRAD!!! :’( Was risking driving it… will risk driving it to the garage tomorrow and hopefully its a quick and cheap fix.
Although hard manual labour was taken on this weekend and my car is brokety broke, I really enjoyed myself. Lucy and I singing along to Tenacious D in the van on the way up was a particular highlight as Alex didn’t have a clue what we were on about.
Sorry I wasn’t around for your visit though Talth :(
Right, anyways… you’re filled in on that exciting adventure… the next!
I host http://www.redsquareclothing.co.uk – I didn’t build or design it, but I host it. It got hacked. I have NO idea how, but I am chasing up some spurious ftp access logs with my host at the moment. The homepage was defaced. I’ve been in contact with my host via email and they said:
“Upon checking the wesite http://redsquareclothing.co.uk, it is displaying the correct homepage. If someone was able to change the pages in your site, it means that somebody was able to access your webspace.
Kindly make sure to secure the password that you are using in accessing your webspace like the ftp password.”
Right… firstly… WTF? Of course the correct homepage is being displayed. I’m hardly going to leave the site up with the hacked homepage for 2 days while I wait for a response… Secondly, Redsquare have their own FTP access, I know the password could have been more secure, as it is only 8 characters, but its lowercase, uppercase, symbols and numbers! Bite me. Thirdly, according to the access logs (which my host has BLATENTLY NOT CHECKED), an unknown ftp user has accessed it. My server logs all FTP activity, and all my FTP accounts have a prefix that I can’t change. The ftp account in question didn’t use this prefix, so as far as I’m concerned neither the Redsquare nor my master FTP account have been used to make the change. Just how someone has managed to do it, I dont know, thats why I need my host’s help. If I dont get a decent answer to my rather stongly worded reply to their pathetic email, then there will be a lengthy telephone conversation where I will probably shout alot and get annoyed.
Might make all that stuff a new post in the morning… but I’m lazy, so probably not.
(Today’s blog has been brought to you whilst listening to Tenacious D)
