Gamebomb.co.uk

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Last night I had a rather strange conversation with a chap named James from Cambridge. He’d added me to his MSN list, thus I assume he has read this site. I’m not meaning to be rude to him at all, its just i’d never spoken to the bloke before last night.

Anyways… he asked me what I was planning/doing with gamebomb.co.uk. It really got me thinking… what AM I doing with it ? At the moment, not alot. So, what would the quickest way of doing something with it be, but hoping to keep the original plan together and make what I wanted it to be?

The answer… A wiki.

I think this will be the way forward with the site. I’ve downloaded MediaWiki for use on the site, and I’m planning to spend a small part of the weekend customising it and adding all the relevant information. So come Monday (yeah, right) it might be up!

Peace out.

Shooting

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

Went shooting (clay pigeons) last night for the second time (went one time last year). I had a really good time. Managed to mingle with some of the toffs (not tofts….) although most of them were farmers. I hit 20 out of 40, which I didn’t think was too bad, and I beat my boss, Jim who took me, who got 19.

PS3

Pre-ordered a PS3 this morning. What are the odds of me getting one ?

GIGRIB

Monday, June 5th, 2006

Been using this little tool (GIGRIB) for a while at work to monitor uptime of our server. Its quite a neat program, which makes use of distributed networking. It works at bit like bittorrent (okay, so the similarities are slim…) but in order for your site to be monitored, you in turn monitor other sites. You can build up a buffer of time, so for example, my machine runs during the working day, but my site is monitored 24 hours. Its not just one to one either, there could be literally hundreds of people checking your site is up at any moment. Have a goosey.

Bedtime Explosions

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

I was just getting comfy in bed last night (about 12.15) when I heard a noise. It sounded a bit like a low flying plane, although a bit close, but it went on for a fair while – 2/3 minutes.

So, just as I was going to get out of bed to see what it was, of course it stops.

Turns out a chemical plant about 10 miles away blew up. Thanks to Scott for the link : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tees/5035918.stm

Pirate Bay

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

I dont personally use it that much, but it was at one point my port of call (for purely legal purposes!).

Pirate Bay’s servers have been raided, and the site taken down – more info can be found here : http://www.thepiratebay.org/
